Dr. Howard Dolman kindly gave me a clinic tour, introducing me to the staff and showcasing the advanced technology they use. From OCT and Visual Field machines to the cutting-edge Optos and Neurolens N3, the range of equipment was impressive. I even had the opportunity to try the Neurolens N3 virtual reality headset, which measures binocular vision alignment. This was followed by an engaging discussion about Neurolens technology and its role in addressing binocular vision disorders. Additionally, I was introduced to Avulux, a company offering innovative filtering lenses designed for migraine sufferers, and got to try the filter for myself during the visit.

Throughout the evening, we delved into the intricacies of private practice ownership. Dr. Howard Dolman shared insights on utilizing various software to streamline practice management, the journey into private practice ownership, and the integration of new technologies and services into practice. I also had the privilege of learning about Dr. Kimberly Dolman’s inspiring journey into vision therapy. She shared how she established KW NeuroVision, her vision therapy practice, and manages her dual roles in primary and specialty care.

Thank you to the CAOS Mentorship Program and to mentors like Drs. Howard and Kimberly Dolman for making this enriching experience possible. Opportunities like these provide optometry students, including myself, with invaluable chances to connect with experienced professionals and gain deeper insights into their inspiring journeys.
