Joyce Wong is a third-year optometry student at the University of Waterloo and is currently serving as the Finance and Sponsorship Director of CAOS. In this role, Joyce manages the financial transactions and budgets for all CAOS operations. She connects with various sponsors to establish new partnerships and sponsored perks for CAOS members. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their generous support, which make all CAOS operations possible.
Joyce is originally from Mississauga, Ontario and graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Honours Bio-Medical Science in 2019. She first developed an interest in optometry when she prepared an orbit dissection, under the direction of Dr. Lorraine Jadeski, for the Human Anatomy Lab in Guelph. At this lab, she facilitated human anatomy workshops for healthcare professionals which has furthered her passion for healthcare education. She has also worked extensively at optometry clinics where she has become fascinated by the many facets of optometry such as specialty contact lenses, dry eye treatments, and vision therapy. These experiences drive her passion for pursuing a career in optometry (and possibly a residency in the future)! This year, Joyce is most excited to learn about fitting contacts, and further developing her clinical skills.
In her spare time, Joyce enjoys hiking, travelling, and trying new foods. She also enjoys playing the cello and used to play in the Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra. She now plays recreationally and may be found playing at friends’ weddings.
