Judy Tran, a 4th year Optometry student at the Arizona College of Optometry at Midwestern University in Glendale, excels in patient care. Originally from Calgary, Canada, she attended Mount Royal University for her undergraduate studies. She has brought her love of rock climbing, food, and Pokémon to the Arizona desert in her journey toward becoming a Doctor of Optometry.
Throughout school, Judy Tran has already demonstrated that she is an exceptional addition to the field of optometry. She constantly seeks opportunities to help others. During her time at AZCOPT, she has carved time out of her busy schedule to tutor many fellow students in the class below her as they navigate their difficult courses. Any time someone asks her for help, she willingly makes herself available. During her final academic quarter at AZCOPT, as she continued challenging herself by taking every class available, she still found a way to Tutor, work as a Teaching Assistant, and present a virtual research poster at ARVO. Judy values knowledge, relationships, and serving others. This will greatly benefit both her patients and the entire optometric profession as she moves forward in her career.
Judy has also shown great potential as an excellent clinician. She is passionate about Specialty Contact Lenses and studied under Dr. Stephanie Woo at the Contact Lens Institute of Nevada. She has also greatly enjoyed serving all veterans, but especially World War 2, Korean War, and Vietnam War Vets at the Phoenix VA for her ocular disease rotation. During her 3rd year, Judy was selected as a clinician of the winter quarter. The faculty who selected her had this to say about her performance: “Judy has consistently performed at the level of a fourth-year student, both in primary care and specialty clinics, with her knowledge and ability to develop appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans. Patients consistently state how impressed they are with her at the conclusion of an encounter.” Judy constantly seeks excellence in her work, compassion in her relationships, and seeks challenges to improve every single day.
