Karanjit Mohaar is a 4th Year Optometry student at Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in Pomona, California. She got her Bachelor of Science from Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta. After graduation she wants to practice in her hometown of Calgary.
During undergrad she volunteered for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) as a vision mate and friendly visitor at the hospital. She gained significant experience to optometry and patient care through her job at a private practice. She also worked at an ophthalmologist office and got further insight into ocular disease. These experiences lead her to pursue optometry. She is currently part of the Student Myopia Management leadership society. During her time at WesternU she has been a part of the Student Government Association for 2 years and has been the liaison for the CAOS chapter at WUCO.
Karanjit is interested in ocular disease and specialty contact lenses. She hopes to pursue a residency in ocular disease. She would like to open her own private practice in Alberta one day and provide comprehensive eye care to her community. In her free time, she likes to travel, workout, hike and binge Netflix.
